Potato Please Secrets: Hidden Interactions
The Potato Please secrets worth knowing: golden key, cableway ride, perimeter escape, the dog, the dartboard and the letter choices.
The Potato Please secrets are mostly small interactions rather than cheat codes. The golden key comes from a parachute potato, the cableway has a hidden ride, the perimeter guards react if you cross the line early, the dog can be fed, and the dartboard and letters add story beats between shifts.

None of these require a secret code or a developer console. They are optional actions the game does not always advertise. Some are tied to achievements; others are just details that make the depot feel lived in.
What is the golden key secret?
The golden key is the endgame key that opens the Iron Door. It comes from a special potato that lands by parachute during the final quota push. Peel the potato and the key appears.
The key is not random. It is a story event tied to the final order. If you have reached the quota and have not seen the parachute potato, keep delivering and watch the sky near the drop zone. The key can be easy to miss if you are focused on the output lane.
Take the key to the Iron Door and open it. The railway beyond the door leads to the three train endings.
How do you ride the cableway?
The cableway ride is the Unauthorized Passenger achievement. Buy the Sack Cableway at $1,250, place a sack at the loading point, and ride the cableway yourself.
The interaction is inconsistent across reports. Some players unlock it on the first attempt; others need to reposition the sack or wait for the cableway to cycle. The sack-first sequence is the most reproducible version.
The Unauthorized Passenger guide → covers the attempts and the failure cases.
What happens at the perimeter?
The outer security line is the No Escape achievement. Before the quota is complete, cross the perimeter. The guards fire and the achievement unlocks.
This is not the Iron Door and not the train. It is the fence around the yard. Crossing it before the quota is a fail-state outcome, not a story branch.
If you are trying to unlock No Escape, save first. The outcome is not a normal ending, and you may need to reload to continue the run.
What is the dog secret?
The puppy appears after the warm-up shift. Buy Dog Food for $3, find the dog, and press E. That unlocks Good Boy. The dog later helps around the depot.
The dog can get lost, and 1.0.1 added a mute option but kept the barking if the dog is lost. Feeding the dog does not unlock A Heart of Gold; that achievement has a separate, unconfirmed trigger.
The puppy guide → has the full sequence.
What is the dartboard for?
The dartboard is an interactable object in the depot. It is a time-waster, not a progression system. You can play a few throws between shifts, and it adds to the atmosphere of the barracks.
There is no confirmed achievement tied to the dartboard. If you are chasing completion, do not spend a shift on it.
Do the letters change anything?
The letters from Pavel are the main story choice outside the train. They ask for help, money, or advice, and the responses shape the relationship. The exact consequences are still debated, especially for Your Own Executioner.
The safest approach is to read each letter and answer in character. If you are testing achievements, keep a save before the final letter so you can change one variable at a time.
Are there other hidden interactions?
A few smaller ones are worth checking:
- The dog can be fed and petted; feeding is the achievement.
- The pause menu points to Troubleshooting after 1.0.1.
- The crane horn announces recounts after the autopilot re-piles.
- The output chute and wall fans no longer leak potatoes after 1.0.1.
- The hand-tremor setting changes the manual peel feel without changing difficulty.
None of these are secret codes. They are systems the game does not explain in the tutorial.
The golden key and the cableway are the only secrets with real progression value. The rest are achievements or flavor. Do not stall the quota to hunt them.
Which secrets are missable?
No Escape is missable if you finish the quota before crossing the perimeter. The cableway ride is available as long as you have the cableway and a completed save. The dog can be fed at any point after it appears.
The golden key is not missable in the same way; it is part of the final order. If you miss the parachute potato, keep delivering and watch the drop zone.
